A simple, inexpensive and convenient saliva test (SALIVAX™) which tests saliva for HIV-1 and HIV-2 infection. The test can also be used for detecting other infections such as syphilis, hepatitis, Epstein-Barr, Lyme disease, etc. and for detecting the presence of drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, etc. The testing is extremely easy (thus easily marketable for home use such as the home pregnancy test s), requires no electricity, refrigeration, special equipment, trained personnel or even running water (thus useful in developing countries) and the reagents are stable from 33 degrees to 110 degrees F (thus useful worldwide). The HIV test has been successful in the company's pilot clinical trials conducted in France, India and Thailand with a sensitivity and specificity close to 99.5% and equal to that of a blood test. The entire test is simpler, easier to use and will cost far less than any of the competitors' collection devices alone. Both the apparatus and tests are subjects of pending US Patents and the name "SALIVAX" is pending a US Trademark.
